Mulbarton is a family owned and operated business, located in the heart of the Padthaway Wine Region.

Phil and Julie Giles began their journey in the late 80's growing the farming and contracting business into a multifaceted enterprise, encompassing transport, compost manufacturing and hay services.

​

Commencing our journey with just the farm and one small truck, the business now operates 7 trucks including B doubles and Road Trains.

 

The compost manufacturing which turns out 5 thousand tonnes a year began with a volume of 200 tonnes of grapemark with Treasury Wines Estate (formally Southcorp).

We have a great passion for the compost and its future, recognising that it enables a sustainable solution for future farmers.

Phil and Julie have travelled around the globe to experience first hand best practice with compost manufacturing, witnessing how soil life impacts growth and productivity through the viability of the soil. We have endeavored to bring this knowledge back to share with Australian farmers and continuing our journey by introducing;

 

• Technologies from various sources to build a machine that is a 'one off' 

• Conducted extensive validation University Trials 

• Ongoing on farm and vineyard trials with Universities and National bodies

• Maintaining a education regime to keep us up-to-date with latest studies
